ALBA Transnational Project of Medicine Control to Be Presented in Cuba
Cuba, Jan 2. - A transnational project led by the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America’s Center for Drugs Regulation will be presented during the 7th International Symposium on Quality to take place in Havana by mid January.
During the December 2009 ALBA Summit held in Havana, all nine member countries of the regional group agreed to implement a unique and centralized system for the Public Health Office in an effort to make medicaments and drugs more accessible to the people, as a key element of ALBA nations’ health policies. The system will work as a regional integration mechanism. It will not only allow access to high-quality products but also improve efficiency and contribute to improve the prices of the medicines.
The project will be presented in Havana by Rafael Perez Cristia, director of Cuba’s State Quality Control Center of Medicaments, during the symposium scheduled for January 12-14, Caridad Hernandez de la Torre, with the National Standardization Office (ONN, Spanish acronyms) told ACN.
Other speakers in the meeting will be Beer Budoo, ISO Director of Development and Training Services, and Sergio del Toro, president of the Pan American Standards Commission.
The symposium is organized by the ONN since 1991. This year’s event main topic is the quality of products and services in harmony with sustainable development. (cubaminrex - acn)
