Pakistan highly values its ties with Cuba, asserts Chairman of the Senate
Islamabad, 3rd January, 2013.- Pakistan Chairman of the Senate, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, expressed these views while a addressing a gathering at Cultural Gala organized by Cuban Embassy to celebrate the 54th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, at Pakistan National Council of the Arts. Senator Bokhari also underscored the need for promoting people-to-people contacts. “It should remain our constant endeavor to further elevate our bilateral relations at political and parliamentary levels. A greater exchange of parliamentary delegations holds the key in this regard,” he said.
During his speech, Bokhari extended the heartiest greetings and the warmest sentiments on behalf of the Pakistan government, Parliament and the whole nation to both the Cuban government and its people for Cuban National Day. Likewise, The Chairman appreciated Ambassador of Cuba to Pakistan, Jesús Zenén Buergo Concepción, for what he described as excellent arrangements made for the cultural gala and expressed the hope the event would lead to more cultural exchanges between the two friendly countries in future with a view to bringing the two peoples closer and strengthening the bonds of friendship.
Senator Bokhari convey its gratitude to the Government and Cuban people for the brotherly help offered to Pakistan in the aftermath of 2005 earthquake devastated the Country. He highlighted the fact that a 2500 Medical Brigade came from Cuba to assist those in need and contributed to their rehabilitation. The Chairman Senate also noted the noble offering by Cuba of 1000 medical scholarships to young Pakistani in 2007 and assert he witnessed the gently treatment that Cuban authorities and population are dispensing to Pakistani students. Finally, The Chairman reiterated the satisfaction of the Government of Pakistan for the actual level of cooperation between the two countries, through which foresees the construction of a cancer hospital in Islamabad with the technical assistance of Cuba.
