New Cuban Concurrent Ambassador Presents Credentials in the Republic of Fiji
FIJI, April 24, 2012.- As part of a solemn ceremony, the new Ambassador of Cuba concurrent in Fiji, Maria del Carmen Herrera Caseiro, resident in New Zealand, presented her Credentials to His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, President of that Asian country.
In the exchange held after the ceremony, the Cuban diplomat stressed the good relations between Cuba and Fiji and the convergence in the positions of both countries for peace, disarmament, development and environmental protection. At the same time, the Ambassador of Cuba welcomed the sustained support provided by Fiji to the Cuban resolution against the blockade in the framework of the UN General Assembly.
On his part, the President recalled his visit to Cuba in 2008 in the context of his participation in the Cuba-Pacific Islands Summit, and referred to the presence of students of Fiji in the Medicine School in Cuba (ELAM), among other topics.
Both sides agreed to continue working for the strengthening of relations and cooperation between the two countries. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba New Zealand)
