President Hugo Chavez Decorates Cuban Ambassador in Venezuela
CUBA, August 27, 2009.- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez decorated the outgoing Cuban ambassador to Caracas, German Sanchez Otero, with the Orden Libertador (Liberator Order) in its first class.
During the ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Ayacucho Hall of the Miraflores Palace in the Venezuelan capital, Chavez also awarded the
order, in its second class, to Aldo Muñoz, outgoing coordinator of the Cuban Medical Mission in the South American nation, reported Granma newspaper.
The Venezuelan leader highlighted the diplomatic work carried out by Sanchez Otero over the past 15 years. He also referred to the creation
of the ‘Barrio Adentro’ social program and the contribution made by thousands of Cuban doctors, nurses and health technicians.
